Roof Refurbishment – Fibre Cement Roofing Upgrade for Brick Buildings

Nuthatch Construction recently completed a full roof refurbishment on a set of ageing brick-built agricultural buildings. These tired, weather-worn structures were no longer fit for purpose, with failing roofs that were starting to compromise the internal spaces. Our team stepped in to carry out a high-quality, long-lasting refurbishment that has completely transformed their look and performance.

Project Overview

We began the roof refurbishment by carefully stripping off the old roofing materials, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding site. With the structures exposed, we set to work recladding the roofs using durable Profile 6 fibre cement roofing sheets—known for their strength, longevity, and suitability for agricultural use.

To maximise natural light inside the buildings, we integrated GRP translucent rooflights into the new roofing system. These lightweight, UV-stable panels allow daylight to flood the internal space, reducing the need for artificial lighting and creating a brighter, more welcoming environment.

Finalising The Roof Refurbishment

To complete the roof structure, we installed two-piece fibre cement ridge caps, both vented and closed, providing essential airflow while protecting against water ingress. At each end of the ridge, we added a finial to give the roof a clean, professional finish.

We also upgraded the rainwater management system, fitting Brett Martin deep-flow guttering to all sides of the buildings. This robust guttering ensures efficient drainage and protects the newly refurbished roof from excess water build-up.

The Result

The roof refurbishment has completely revitalised these once-dated buildings. What was previously a tired and leaking structure is now a clean, modern, and fully usable facility. Thanks to high-performance materials and attention to detail, the buildings now offer long-term durability, improved usability, and a smart, professional appearance.
